Values and purpose
We’re proud to be a Peak Performing organisation. This is a practice underpinned by research that helps us continuously be the best we can as we pursue our inspirational purpose: to support young people to live full lives; hopeful, and connected to what matters to them. Our purpose and values influence our practice all day, every day. Our spirit Ahakoa te aha: whatever it takes, is often heard from our kaimahi when they talk about their mahi.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Te Tiriti o Waitangi is the foundation document of Aotearoa. We recognise the need for Te Tiriti o Waitangi to be threaded through the fabric of our services and inform our behaviours. In doing so, we identify ourselves as an akonga as we play our part to authentically strengthen equity. We apply our resources to build capability and confidence of our kaimahi.
Alongside Pathways, we’ve established a rautaki Māori to guide the direction of our work with Māori and to play our part in addressing equity.
Our ARC framework
ARC (Attachment, Regulation and Competency) underpins our mahi. It’s our evidence-based framework for working with taiohi and their whānau when trauma has occurred. In the context of the New Zealand experience, the name gifted to Real for this kaupapa is Te Kōkota.
Our ARC framework brings together key foundations of what we know about development, and about the impacts of trauma and resiliency. Importantly, it’s a framework, not a model, so offers scaffolding and direction to our care while allowing space for our work to reflect our own context, workforce and tikanga.
Maau Raa, our waiata
Our waiata, Maau Raa, is a celebration of what we can achieve together. It was created by Pathways kaimahi, and it reflects us, our purpose and our values. It helps us connect with the people we belong to, and it brings us joy. It’s the strength of our voice together, standing with strength and courage.
What drives us every day
We’re also influenced every day by a range of other important driving forces.
