We’re here to do everything we can to support taiohi to live full lives; hopeful and connected to what matters to them. We’re focused on increasing the wellbeing of our taiohi and their whānau. We’re about hope and respect and providing personalised support that changes as people’s needs change.

We’re committed to working in a trauma informed way, recognising the impact trauma may have had on taiohi and working with them to help build resilience and protective factors.

As a Tiriti o Waitangi based organisation, we’re constantly challenging ourselves to realise the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our everyday practice. From the moment you walk through the door it’s our hope that Māori can see and experience themselves in who we are, how we work and what we do.

Staying connected is important and prioritised. Our regular Mā te Kōrero is our way to virtually connect Pathways and Real kaimahi across Aotearoa. During our Mā te Kōrero we celebrate all things Te Ao Māori as well as the amazing people we work with.

Our kaimahi make the difference and it’s important to us to look after the wellbeing of all our kaimahi. This includes supporting both the living wage and pay equity movements as well as nurturing an ‘earn and learn’ environment. We celebrate the contributions of our kaimahi in multiple ways, including with our annual Trish Glen Award.

We value input from our kaimahi and carry out a staff survey every year. Staff benefits are developed based on what’s important to our kaimahi, designed to support the health and wellbeing of kaimahi and their whānau.

We recognise the importance of lived experience across our kaimahi and how this supports our taiohi. We know how the power of peer support changes lives; how it builds recovery skills, hope and wellbeing. It’s why we’ve been growing the number of peers across our organisation through our successful peer training programme Kia Mataara.

Many of our Kia Mataara graduates have joined recognised peer support and leadership roles.
